IceMobile and HotSMS introduce ClubMMS

As of today, ICEMOBILE bv and HotSMS bv will provide MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) through ClubMMS. ClubMMS offers an operator independent service to send and receive MMS messages with (color) photo's, images and audio fragments. HotSMS bv and ICEMOBILE bv developed the infrastructure and concept behind ClubMMS. All it takes to send and receive MMS messages is one SMS to 4411 to request the correct settings. Thereafter, users are ready to send their first MMS. In addition to its multi-media characteristic, MMS has the added functionality of sending messages to e-mail addresses.

How does it work?

Everyone with an MMS mobile phone can request the settings required for sending multimedia messages by sending an SMS with to 4411. Once the settings are saved on the mobile phone, the user can send MMS messages to anyone with an MMS phone or as an e-mail to any e-mail address. This is operator independent. Furthermore, and for the first time ever, MMS messages can be send to and from all five Dutch operators.

MMS offers the ability to add images and sounds as well as text in a message. Moreover, most MMS phones are equipped with a camera. At any given moment the user can take a picture and directly send it as an MMS! From SMS to MMS
SMS is expected to continue to be the strongest player in transporting mobile data. However, MMS is quickly gaining popularity as its most promising successor. The use of MMS as a method of communication will grow fast primarily because of its multi-media characteristic. HotSMS bv and ICEMOBILE bv founded ClubMMS to boost the development and use of MMS. The recipient of the MMS receives an SMS on his/her phone stating that he/she has received an MMS. Using the personal code provided in the SMS on the ClubMMS website, the recipient will be able to experience the MMS by viewing and listening to his/her personal MMS! In the near future it will be possible to send an MMS message from the ClubMMS website.

Costs

Requesting the required MMS settings by SMS is provided free of charge. Each MMS message that is sent costs € 0,55 per message. This amount is either charged to the user's mobile phone bill or withdrawn from the user's prepaid balance depending on the user's chosen method of payment.
